Candle mat swap

Mijn candle mat voor de ruil is af. Ik heb een charm pack Adoring van Sandi Gervais (Moda) er voor gebruikt. Het zijn wel kerststofjes, maar niet in de bekende Kerstkleuren.

Omdat het charm pack nog niet op was heb ik deze ook nog gemaakt.
Beetje anders, maar zeker net zo leuk. 
Ik weet nog niet welke ik opstuur naar mijn partner aan de andere kant van de wereld.

The candle mat for the swap is done. I use a charm pack Adoring (Sandi Gervais for Moda) and only used half of it, so I decided to make another one.
Little different, but just as nice.
I don’t know yet which one will make the trip to my partner downunder.

Ik weet nog niet of ik deze volgorde aanhoud. Ik zal eens gaan schuiven met de blokken en zien waar ik op uit kom.

These are all 12 blocks. I don’t know if this is the right order, I’ll move some blocks around and see what I like.

Kijk eens ..

Wat ik vandaag heb ontvangen. Alle 9-patch blokken van de nine patch swap.

Zijn ze niet schitterend? Allemaal verschillend. Nu nog bedenken hoe ik ze zal gaan verwerken.

Look what I’ve got in the mail today. Repro 9-patch blocks, lots of them. All from  the nine patch swap I participated in. Aren’t they beautiful?! And all different.
Now I need a plan how to put them in a quilt.

Een paar dagen geleden kreeg ik dit in de post:

De “finishing kit”. Het bevatten niet alleen het patroon van blok 12 (het laatste blok) maar ook alle stof voor de sashings en de borders. Meer dan voldoende stof om er een mooi geheel van te maken.

Ik heb eerst maar blok 12 gemaakt. Het heet “journey’s end” (het einde van de reis) en dat is wel een toepasselijke naam voor het laatste  blok. Het is niet helemaal het einde van de reis, de quilt moet ook nog in elkaar worden gezet en gequilt. Dus de reis gaat nog even door.


Daarna  ga ik eens kijken in welke volgorde ik de blokken ga leggen. Er is wel een voorbeeld bij, maar ik kan de blokken natuurlijk ook anders leggen.
Ik heb wel gezien dat de borders erg breed zijn in het patroon. Ik weet niet of ik dat wel mooi vind, maar ik kan ze altijd aanpassen naar mijn smaak.  We zien wel.

A few days ago I received the finishing kit of this BOM. Not only did it contain the pattern of the last block, but also all the fabric I need to finish the quilt (sashings, borders, etc).
But I first made the last block: “Journey’s end”, a very appropriate name for the last block in the series. However, the journey had not completely ended, the quilt needs to be assembled and quilted. So, the journey continues.  But it IS the end of receiving and making a monthly block, which I really enjoyed.

Then I have to decide about the layout. I don’t know if I’ll follow the pattern.
I noticed that the borders are rather wide, I don’t know if I’ll like that, but I can always make them a little narrower.

Herfst quiltje af/a finish

Het herfstquiltje voor mijn jongste zoon is af. Nu heeft hij quiltjes voor alle seizoenen. Hij was er blij mee en het hangt te pronken in zijn huis. Je moet altijd maar afwachten of hij het mooi vindt wat ik gemaakt heb, maar tot nu toe is dat gelukt.


 This is the fall wall hanging for my youngest son, the last seasonal one. Now he has one for every season. I’m glad he liked it.
